Authentic Italian Takeaway in Knottingley: Bring Valentino’s Home

Everyone knows the feeling. You've been thinking about dinner since about half three. The bag finally turns up, you open the lid, and the pizza has gone soft in its own steam. The pasta's gone claggy. It's food, technically. It just isn't a meal.

That's usually not the kitchen's fault. It's what happens when a dish sits in a warming bag while a driver finishes two other drops across town.

We've been cooking in this corner of West Yorkshire since 1995, and we've never seen the point in running a separate, cheaper "takeaway menu". What comes out of our kitchen for you to take home is the same à la carte food we send to the tables in front of us.

Why bother with an independent?

A high-street pizza shop is built around speed and volume. That's a legitimate business — it's just a different one to ours.

Our ragù is on the stove for hours. The dough is proved, not pressed out of a machine. The difference isn't marketing; it's time, and time is the one thing a volume operation can't give you. If you've eaten enough Italian food to have opinions about it, you'll taste it in the first two forkfuls.

We're also a family business. The people cooking your order are the people whose name is above the door, which tends to concentrate the mind.

The problem with the apps

Third-party platforms are convenient, and we understand why people use them. But they sit between our kitchen and your kitchen, and a few things get lost on the way through.

Your order gets batched with other people's. Nobody in that chain has any particular stake in whether your lasagne is still hot. And a meaningful slice of what you pay never reaches the restaurant at all. Download our app the link is on our website valentinoswakefield.co.uk

Order direct and our team handles it start to finish. Ring us, or use the takeaway page on our site. It's a shorter journey, and there's someone at our end who actually cares how it turns out.

Beyond the pizza

Pizza travels well and it's what most people reach for. Worth knowing you don't have to stop there.

The Pollo alla Crema — chicken in a cream sauce — holds up properly on the way home. So does the lasagne, which is the dish we'd point a first-timer towards. We've spent a fair while working out which containers keep which textures intact, because a dish that's brilliant on the pass and mediocre twenty minutes later isn't much use to anybody.

Have a look through the menus and see what takes your fancy.

Making a night of it

A takeaway doesn't have to be a plate on your knees, though there's nothing wrong with that either.

Lay the table. Light a candle. Pour something decent. If you're feeding a crowd, ring the order through a bit earlier in the evening — Friday and Saturday get busy, and giving the kitchen room means the food is better when it reaches you.

Our spritz menu translates to a living room surprisingly well, if you want the full effect.

Coming to collect

We're on Leeds Road at Lofthouse Gate, an easy run from Knottingley. Order ahead, tell us when you're coming, and it'll be bagged and ready.

Or come and eat it here. The reservations page is there if you'd rather let someone else do the washing up.

A few things people ask

Can I get the full menu to take away? Yes. The whole à la carte menu, cooked to order, same as it goes out to the restaurant tables.

Why order direct rather than through an app? Your food is handled by our team from start to finish, and the money stays with a local family business instead of a platform.

Can I take a Sunday roast away? You can. Same cuts, same veg, none of the washing up.

Do you do vegetarian and gluten-free? Plenty of vegetarian dishes, and gluten-free bases and pasta are available. Do tell us about any allergy when you order so the kitchen can take the right precautions — our team will talk you through what we can and can't guarantee in a shared kitchen.
